About LVPC
Formed in 2019 in a response to poor venues to play our exciting “new” sport the Longview Pickleball Club was created to revamp an aging and rarely used set of tennis courts in the heart of Longview. The new courts were financed with donations from enthusiasts and matched by the City of Longview. Out of this group effort the Vandercook Park courts were born. These courts rapidly became THE place to play outdoor pickleball in the city with 4 pickleball courts co-lined with tennis.
Membership was pen, paper, an Excel spreadsheet and donations. As we grew this became unmanageable. After serious reorganization we became a full fledged 501.3 (C) entity with a board and rules.
Now we welcome members with an official sign up and set dues. This pays for upkeep of our equipment and adopted venues and administration. Thanks Longview Parks and Recreation for letting us partner with you!
Soon after 4 courts were not enough. We undertook a major project to create the Clary Courts. With permission from the City of Longview we took 4 unused decaying tennis courts at the John Null park and rebuilt them into a dedicated pickleball venue with 9 courts and a central seating area.
We continue to look for opportunities in the community to expand pickleball and bring activity back to the community.
